Collection: BLACKWING

Blackwing pencils are available in Canada at Take Note, stocked across all four core models and a full range of accessories. The name goes back to the original Eberhard Faber Blackwing 602, a favourite of writers, animators, and musicians for decades before it was discontinued in 1998. Palomino revived the formula in 2010, restoring the incense-cedar wood, the calibrated graphite grades, and the flat ferrule with its replaceable, extendable eraser, the detail that made the original worth saving.

Blackwing 602 — $45 for a box of 12. Semi-firm graphite with a dark, controlled line. The benchmark model, praised in the New Yorker and Wall Street Journal. Best for writers and everyday use.

Blackwing Matte — $45. The softest of the four, with extra-soft graphite for maximum line weight. The preferred choice for musicians marking scores and for artists who need deep, expressive lines.

Blackwing Pearl — $45. Balanced graphite, softer than the 602, polished white barrel with a gold imprint. Smooth and forgiving.

Blackwing Natural — $45. Extra-firm graphite, unfinished cedar barrel. This is the lightest and most precise line of the four.

For gifts or if you want to try all four, the Rustic Box ($95) includes three of each core model plus accessories. The Walnut Box ($155) holds 24 pencils in a round-grain walnut case with a cork-lined interior.

Accessories are stocked alongside the pencils: replacement erasers at $9 for a set of 10, a handheld eraser and holder at $18, and long-point sharpeners from $26 designed for the graphite formula's performance.
